When Kristin Cavallari of The Hills and Laguna Beach fame married her beau, Chicago Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler, in a rustic and romantic Nashville ceremony this past June, it may have been the one time in her life where she didn't dress from the shoes up. As a shoe designer for a collaborative collection with Chinese Laundry, Cavallari had the enviable opportunity to design her own wedding shoes to complement her ensemble from Monique Lhuillier. For Kristin, it all started with the gown: the bride chose a two-piece look, pairing Lhuillier's "Augustine" corset and "Eternity" skirt. The twist? Her shoe choice was simple, demure, $130 and, wait for it...dyeable! We had a chance to chat with the reality TV star about the design for her new bridal shoe, appropriately named "LOVE".

Martha Stewart Weddings: We like how simple "LOVE" is. What made you opt for such a pared down silhouette on your special day? As someone that could have opted for any style from any designer, what about these stood out to you?
Kristin Cavallari: When it comes to accessories, I think simplicity is key. Even though I am a shoe designer and think shoes complete every outfit, on your wedding day, it truly is about the dress. Because of that, I wanted a shoe to complement my dress, not upstage it.
MSW: How did you find inspiration for the shoe? What was your starting point?
KC: I wanted a shoe similar to the "Lotteria" shoe in my collection. It's my favorite shoe and very comfortable. I just changed it slightly by adding a back to dress it up and matched the color to my dress.
MSW: Now that you are designing shoes, what came first? The gown or the shoes? Did you dress from the shoes up, or design shoes to suit your look?
KC: My wedding was the one, rare occasion that I didn't dress from the shoes up. I picked my dress then designed my shoes to go well with it.
MSW: We love the surprise metallic detail on the LOVE shoe, what made you decide to add the metallic accents to an otherwise subtle sandal?
KC: I'm always thinking of ways to make shoes different and give them something special. I love doing that with small details to give them a bit of edge.
