Next up on our behind the scenes from Amanda and Tim's wedding weekend, is a look at the night before. Read on for the 411 on the rehearsal dinner of the 100 Layer Cake blogger and her beau (with photos by Scott Clark), and be sure to check out their big day in our new real weddings issue.
The fun thing about rehearsal dinners these days is how much they've started to turn into mini-weddings. They're the guests' first taste of the wedding festivities and set the tone for the wedding day, so it's fun to sprinkle in a peek of your decor, flowers, food, and even favors!
Since many of our guests were coming from out of state, we wanted them to participate in one of our favorite things to do—eat pizza. Tim is a major pizza enthusiast. At one point he even had a blog dedicated to finding the best pizza in town, so needless to say, we get a pie almost every week from our favorite place in Culver City. When we found out our favorite place had a satellite location in the same beach town where we were getting married, it kind of sealed the deal. It served as the perfect spot for our rehearsal dinner! To tie in a bit of the glamour theme that would be seen throughout our wedding the next day, I wore a sparkly BHLDN gown. I loved the contrast of eating pizza in a fancy dress!
The pizza parlor had all the decor we needed: stacks of colorful Italian tomato cans, red and white checkered tablecloths, and cafe lights strug up on the ceiling. All we needed were some fun flowers to pretty it up a bit. Looking back, our guests had such a blast and loved how low-key the entire evening felt. Plus, it didn't hurt our pocketbook!
