I know it isn't cherry-picking season yet, but when I came across this gorgeous Rainer Cherry Muddler over at Sprouted Kitchen, I just couldn't wait until summer to share it. Plus, for those of you planning a summer wedding, this drink would make an exceptional signature cocktail. The vodka-based beverage is a mouthwatering blend of lemon basil and Rainier cherries (which are less sweet than other cherry varieties for a lighter, crisper taste). Add a bit of Turbinado (raw) sugar and a splash of sparkling water, and voila--you've got a natural, delicious drink ready to enjoy. Cheers!
Rainier Cherry Muddler (Serves 1)
8 Rainier cherries
A few leaves of lemon basil
2 tsp. Turbinado sugar
2 oz. vodka
Crushed ice
Sparkling water
Directions: Pit and halve the cherries. Put the cherries, lemon basil and sugar in a glass and muddle. Fill a glass 3/4 full with crushed ice. Add the vodka and muddled cherry mix and fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water.
