Destination Wedding: Ireland

Posted by

On my recent journey to Dublin, I enjoyed many wonderful museums, cafes, and restaurants. But after a few days in Dublin, I headed out to explore the lush, magical, and insanely romantic countryside. If you plan to start your own Irish adventure in Dublin be sure to consider the Merrion Hotel or The Shelbourne for a luxurious and restful escape from the city center. For a low-key, delicious dinner try The Unicorn or Brasserie Sixty6.

My first stop was Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo. The surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking and the staff and service at Ashford Castle is impeccable. I enjoyed a cocktail with the lovely wedding co-coordinator, Martina McGee, and director of sales and marketing, Paula Carrol. Both of these wonderful ladies shared so much information on the property and now I'm just waiting for the perfect opportunity to design an amazing event at Ashford Castle!

Next, I visited romantic Adare Manor, which is located in the heart of Adare Village in County Limerick. I enjoyed a fabulous tour of the property with director of marketing,  Sarah Stuart Trainor. After my tour I had time for a carriage ride to take in the gorgeous setting. Adare is full of history and incredible details. The gardens are truly perfect for a ceremony and the interior spaces are stunning. The suites, the dining room, drawing room, and even the pub downstairs are all incredible places to entertain your guests. This is definitely a location to consider if you are looking for a magical venue to host your destination wedding.

Before heading back to Dublin, I had time to spend two days at the truly spectacular Dromoland Castle which is located in County Clare. The Cliffs of Moher are just a quick drive from this amazing estate and definitely worth the trip. I fell in love with the walled garden and the truly fabulous drawing room. Dromoland balances modern amenities with old world service beautifully.

I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my time in Ireland. It is truly a magical place and absolutely perfect for an enchanted, incredible destination wedding. If you live in the Northeast or anywhere near NYC, the trip is quick and you will not be disappointed! If you are considering a European location for your destination wedding or event please make time for a stop in Ireland. I promise you will leave feeling inspired!
