After getting hitched on June 18, 2011 in a lovely affair at a Virginia plantation, Charlottesville residents Caroline and Jon Languasco (there they are above at the Bob Marley Centre and Mausoleum) headed south for a sun-soaked week in a tropical playground on the northwest coast of Jamaica. "We chose Montego Bay to re-experience a wonderful childhood vacation I'd taken with my family," says Caroline. Click through to get the scoop on a few of their favorite experiences.
Of course music, in the form of a percussion-heavy jam sesh, was on the menu at the Bob Marley Centre, which is "both his birthplace, and his resting place," says Caroline.
Another trip highlight? A catamaran cruise that included snorkeling in the island's crystalline waters, and ended up at the raucous Margaritaville known for its waterslides and floating trampolines. To Caroline's surprise, "a video crew came on board with us for the second half of the trip and filmed a commercial while teaching everyone a Jamaican dance!"
But the sweetest moment occurred while the couple was floating down the Martha Brae River on a bamboo raft. "When I came here as a 9 year old, the man who took us down pulled a pod out of a leaning tree and gave my siblings and I a "luck nut" from inside," remembers the bride."This time around I asked for one though they say they're usually only available in the spring ... but our guide jumped to the shore and found a lone pod for me!" Sure enough, there were nuts inside -- even the luckiest-in-love couple will take a little extra good fortune.
