Etiquette: Are You Peeking At Your Registry?

Posted by

Don't feel bad about checking and updating your wedding registry online -- there are practical reasons to do so. For starters, sometimes it's the only way to find out that your flatware has been discontinued. And if your highly preferred gifts are gone, you can add alternatives for the stuff you aren't quite excited about.

The downside? You'll know what you're getting in advance (quite a drawback for me, since I'm pathological about not knowing about presents).

How about you -- are you peeking? And is that exciting, or do you worry it will destroy the anticipation like me?

  • I peeked once and instantly regretted it. I'm only going to peek after I have my bridal shower so I can remove the gifts I received from the registry but then I won't pek anymore.
Another way to avoid seeing what has ben fulfilled is to sort by what's still needed, that way you can make sure nothing has been discontinued but you won't see what you're getting up front.
    Happy gifting!

  • I do feel like I'm cheating but I still get excited! But there still is an element of surprise when you finally receive the gift and see who it's from! And you're right - it is good to check and make revisions because I saw a few things I wanted have been discontinued. Peeking is fine in moderation :)
