DIY Wildflower Seed Scrub Favors

Posted by

It was the retro-cute packaging of Nostalgia Organics that first drew me in. But the line's natural soaps and clever fragrances hooked me. There's rosemary-infused Mixed Greens, coconutty Goose Bumps, and my favorite, Sweet Orange, whose cinnamon and orange scent makes me feel like I'm bathing in melted candy — a good thing.

Inspired by the Lemon Drop Face Scrub that owner Elea Lutz whipped up at home using common kitchen items, I asked her to create a natural DIY for us. She did me one better and concocted a body scrub that could become a nice favor for an outdoor or country-themed wedding.

Follow the jump for the recipe.

Not only is this easy to make (double, triple, etc. the measurements to make this in big batches) but it's also pretty inexpensive.

Wildflower Seed Body Scrub

Ingredients
1/4 cup fine or medium-grade sea salt
1 tbsp carrier oil: jojoba, avocado or sweet almond
5 to 7 drops of essential oils: rose, ylang-ylang or jasmine
1/2 tsp dry flower petals or seeds

Directions
Blend salt, carrier oil, and essential oils in a bowl.
Gently add petals or seeds, and mix evenly throughout.
Pour mixture into a small glass canning jar.
Cover lid with decorative cloth, and secure with twine.
Finish with a label.

Washroom: Apply scrub to body with a gentle circular motion. Rinse with warm water. (Be sure to test on a patch of skin before using all over your body, and beware of seeds that are too coarse.)

*Lutz recommends keeping the scrub sealed and in a cool dry place for freshness. For best results, advise guests to use within 3 months.
