Real Weddings Follow-Up: Vanessa and Gavin
Posted by Shira Savada
Yesterday I showed you the breathtaking beachside wedding of Vanessa and Gavin. Today I'm back with more! Now you've seen the couple's invitation suite complete with two-tone letterpressing, calligraphy, and hand-drawn tropical designs. How about a closer look?
Above, see the inspiration gathered by Ceci Johnson of Ceci New York and CeciStyle to create Vanessa and Gavin's paperie suit: color swatches, location photos, flowers, and even a bit of mood. Ceci always sketches out her ideas, and in the center of all those photos, you can see an initial drawing.
Marianne Weiman-Nelson of Special Occasions Event Planning and her team helped Vanessa and Gavin with the weekend's events. Want to see them? Check out the gallery below, chock full of images from Ira Lippke Studios.
Here, the Turks and Caicos flag flaps in the wind.
Aren't the clear blue waters and white sand of Parrot Cay stunning?
Vanessa wore a coral Oscar de la Renta dress to the welcome party. The bright hue fit the palette perfectly.
Floral arrangements brought color to Terrace's bar (http://www.parrotcay.como.bz/eat-and-drink/terrace).
These smoked-salmon lollipops were unique.
Hundreds of candles lined the property during the Thursday night welcome party.
Guests danced by the pool to music played by DJ Dave Meek of No Static. Later in the evening, he spun old-school rock 'n' roll to which Vanessa's parents, Candice and Bobby, performed an impromptu routine.
The soon-to-be newlyweds share a cocktail.
Vanessa and Gavin made time for their terrier, Bosley, before heading to the beach party on Friday.
The beach party took place at the bride's parents' home. The strip of beach served as the ceremony location and reception site on the following day.
Bowls filled with limes decorated the tables.
Patterned linens added bold color and texture to the lunch's beachside buffet spread of plantain chips and dips, ceviches, salads, and tacos.
Tequila-infused ice pops were passed around.
Everyone enjoyed the warm ocean waters.
Sliced watermelon was a refreshing treat.
The rehearsal dinner took place at Parrot Cay's Lotus restaurant (http://www.parrotcay.como.bz/eat-and-drink/lotus).
The indoor-outdoor restaurant has teak furniture and beamed ceilings. The green centerpieces stand out on the white table runners.
Calligraphed escort cards helped guests find their seats.
The escort-card table was decorated with orchids, candles, and tropical leaves.
Menus were tucked inside folded napkins.
White lounge furniture offered cozy areas for guests to relax as the evening progressed.
