Heinrich Mann once said, "A house without books is like a room without windows." I couldn't agree more. I love reading and find much inspiration in the books I have in my home. So why not lighten up your registry with a beautiful selection, from cooking to art to history to home design -- all just waiting to be placed in a new home. It's not often people tell you to judge a book by it's cover, but here, I'm doing just that. I happened to find all of these at Anthropologie, where they consistently keep a wonderful range of reading materials in their stores.

I think that is a magnificent idea! When we think about home needs, we tend to preoccupy ourselves with spatulas and skillets and salt shakers. But books are important too! Awesome idea.

Love this! Our website, Zankyou.com, allows brides and grooms to register for absolutely anything - books included!

I have recipes from an Italian summer and it is worth the purchase. I recently invested in my own pasta machine and it has certainly brought me so much happiness!

Great idea! Love that it's reflective of what you really want and your lifestyle. Also agree that houses shouldn't be windowless... try http://www.weddingrepublic.com, you can add anything, books, art, cooking lessons, whatever

Couldn’t agree more with books being a great registry item. Personally one of my favorite shower gifts was an autographed copy of a Martha Stewart cookbook. I’m also a huge fan of Strand Bookstore in NYC where you can purchase books by the foot to fill those empty shelves! http://www.strandbooks.com/

If you want to buy books. i would advise you to go online and search the prices for these books using services like http://www.thecollegetextbooks.net. It is better than going for standalone stores. As you can save on lot of money using them.
