Event Planning: Fancy Footwear

Posted by

With all the parties I've planned, it's safe to say that I haven't met a bride who doesn't obsess over the perfect shoes for her wedding day! No one can deny how fabulous, beautiful, and happy a good pair of shoes can make you feel. They can totally finish a look and sometimes they even relate to the overall design and vision for an event! You definitely have to consider the time of year, the location, the dress, the decor and so many other details! I see so many amazing photos of shoes in all of the beautiful photos of weddings throughout the year and I couldn't resist sharing a few of these great images! Shoe concerns or obsessions are certainly not limited to the bride. No matter what your role....bride, groom, bridesmaid, groomsmen or guest you need a great pair of shoes to celebrate a very special occasion!

What are you planning to wear on your feet for the big day? I'd love to hear your stories and ideas!

These lovely shoes, photographed by the fabulous team from Belathee, are perfect for a glamorous summer wedding.

Don't forget your flower girls. These slippers are gorgeous. Give each girl a single peony to carry and they are ready to go! Photo by Karen Hill.

Choosing a great shoe for your bridesmaids can be tricky, but these were perfect in silver with the navy dresses. Photo by Mel Barlow.

Sometime the guys can have a little fun as well. Sandals were required for this beautiful wedding. Photo by Mel Barlow.

Sometimes you don't need shoes at all! Photos by Mel Barlow.

I love this photo by Karen Hill and these shoes were so fantastic! The bride carried a dreamy white bouquet with a touch of blush pink, and the bridesmaids carried plum, jewel-toned flowers, which were the perfect compliment to the bride's sparkling shoes!

Don't forget the classic flip flop! You can provide these for your summer wedding as an option for dancing and lounging later in the evening. There is that moment when the fabulous shoes just need to come off and you need to enjoy the evening on the beach after dinner or in the garden sipping a cocktail with your guests! • I like the idea of metallics for my shoes. And since I'm nervous about heels sinking into the lawn or isle runner at my outdoor wedding, I'm thinking espadrilles would be the most practical thing to still give me the height I need without worrying about tripping and falling.
