Cream, Chocolate, Pine, and White
When the pictures from Jodi and Jon's slope-side wedding in Utah arrived in our offices, everyone took notice. The palette, the natural environment -- I couldn't think a more perfect place for two winter lovers to get married, whether it be on the charming slopes of the East coast or the majestic mounts of the Rockies.
Naturally, basic white and wood lend rustic elegance to the palette. Lodges and chalets, with their pine interiors, make for a perfect reception venue without needing much in the way of decoration to transform them. Set your tables with glowing cream candles and pine cone place card holders, throw sheepskins on long communal benches, and serve up something warm and comforting. Decadent chocolate cakes and ginger bread cookie favors add the right flavor to the season. And a luscious little cream fur jacket or cashmere wrap will keep you toasty in your gown.
Have you been thinking of a mountain wedding? How are you planning on celebrating your special day in this festive environment?
Clockwise from top left: A nostalgic view of the Matterhorn from Findeln in the Swiss alps; delicate snowflake cookie favors for your guests; Jodi and Jon in Sundance, Utah from our Winter 2010 issue; stenciled chocolate wedding cakes; a natural and perfect bouquet and boutonniere from Jodi and Jon's wedding; the right setting for your cocktail hour in Zermatt; invitation suite from Maria and Robert's wedding in Oregon; guests signed skis during Jodi and Jon's rehearsal dinner and hung them up as decor at the reception.
