  • Thanks so much for doing this Facebook chat tomorrow! I have an etiquette question, but I don't want to post it on Facebook because it will show up on all my friend's news feeds!

My large wedding is planned for August 30, 2014. My fiance is from Brazil, so our marriage also has implications for his visa status in the US. We'd like to start this visa application process as soon as possible so that we can take a honeymoon overseas right after the wedding. (While we were planning a mini-moon in the US, a situation has arisen in which we'll be able to take a vacation to Bali expenses paid because of a family member's canceled trip earlier this year - but it must be used before October 2014).

What is the etiquette for having a civil wedding before the actual ceremony with family and friends? Can/must the fact be shared, or could it be kept a secret? Could we secretly marry at the court house before the big day in order to begin this visa process, or would we be obligated to tell our family and guests?

Or would you recommend turning down the trip offer to avoid this predicament?

    Thank you very much!

    Liz

Hi Liz! Thanks so much for addressing this issue. We'll lead off with the answer to this at 3 pm EST on Facebook--but we won't link it to you. (Completely understand!).

    Thanks so much,
    Maureen

  • Is there a special idea or activity to have guests give their mailing address, instead of the " please write your name and address on the envelope" ? It is hard to find addresses for gift givers, and I would appreciate a nice way of getting a correct mailing address. Thank you !

  • We're looking forward to addressing both of these at 3 during our chat, but as a preview, Liz: Do not turn down the trip. NEVER turn down a free trip to Bali ;)

    More later...

  • Oh, I'm really looking forward to this..I'm adding to my iphone reminder now!

  • Piece of writing writing is also a fun, if you be familiar
with afterward you can write if not it is complex to write.
