Lucky in Kentucky, Lydia and Benjamin found the ideal venue after a long search. Lo and behold, it was a spot they'd both visited as children, but hadn't returned to since. The historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill complemented the couple's palette of greens and blues, and inspired them to showcase the famous "Tree of Life" illustration—first painted in 1854 and representing the Garden of Eden— throughout their big day. Lydia and Benjamin thought carefully about every last detail, which included hand-crafted favor boxes, an exquisitely calligraphed document signed by each attendee to commemorate the celebration, and a major cheese spread to whet everyone's appetite for the dinner feast.
