DIY or Buy: Accordion Paper Folding

Posted by

I love a good craft tutorial, and the UK site Mini Eco by Kate Lilley makes seemingly complicated projects totally doable. Her "Accordion Paper Folding" how-to is one of the best I've ever seen, complete with detailed photos and easy-to-follow instructions.

Kate's used the technique to create pretty candle holders ...

... but once you get the skill down, it's a cinch to make so many things, including our Glassine-Gem Paper Lanterns.

And just ask anyone who starts paper folding — it's addictive! So who knows? With enough practice, imagine making something as exquisite as the paper masterpieces by Michigan-based Matt Shlian, for use as a ceremony marker or photo backdrop. Well ... full disclosure: the guy earned an undergraduate degree in sculpture, and a masters in paper engineering—but the good news is, he takes commissions!

  • Amazing ideas, love them! Thanks for sharing.

  • Just bear in mind to check them out first in order that
you will seee if they're working or otherwise not. The colorful
and challenging game has spawned tips, tricks and cheats
online, as well as what sounds like a potential merchandising line.
Once again a pure CSS tableless, two column, fixed idth

  • Hi,

I will try this first with the plain print out,but maybe colored dots at the various intersections will help to see what's going on. Blue dots for one diagonal direction. Red dots for the other.
