BRIDAL BEAUTY DIARIES: Esther – An Eye Opener
Posted By admin On October 7, 2013 @ 1:15 pm In Bridal Beauty Diaries | No Comments
Preparing for the wedding (and blogging about it!) has definitely encouraged me to experiment with my beauty routine. Paying more attention to my eyebrows is certainly on the list. I had relied mostly on my own tweezing skills but because they are long and thick, had trouble mastering. I’ve now started getting my eyebrows threaded to make sure I’m comfortable with the procedure before the wedding. The first time I went, my eyes were like waterworks! While it’s not pain-free, it only takes about 5 minutes so it’s bearable and my brows look so much cleaner afterwards. I heard it hurts less the more you do it so I go back every time feeling more comfortable.
While my eyebrows have volume to spare, my eyelashes are practically non-existent! As a result, mascara is one of my staples (my favorites are Lancôme Définicils or Hypnôse, and now MAC False Lashes Waterproof Mascara). For the wedding, I have considered getting eyelash extensions to make me look extra special. I did try false eyelashes for the first time ever a few months ago— our engagement photos were the perfect excuse! I went to a local MAC store, and one of the makeup artists helped me pick out a set. She applied them for me on-the-spot giving me some application hints along the way. I was pretty sure I still wouldn’t be able to do them myself so she invited me to come back to the store the morning before the photo shoot, and offered to re-apply them for me then.
The verdict: I loved the way they looked, but they were a little uncomfortable. I felt like I was blinking the lashes right off (though they did stay on), and my contact lenses got really dried out. I think the extensions will be a good alternative because they will be glued to my eyelashes rather than my lashline, which I’m hoping will be more comfortable. The photos were taken before I started my Invisalign treatment, and while you can’t see my lower teeth well, I can definitely see a difference in my overbite between then and now. I’m looking forward to smiling even more confidently and showing off my new smile at the wedding in about 8 months!
Disclosure: I have received complimentary treatment from Invisalign in exchange for blogging about my bridal journey and treatment, and all opinions expressed are my own.
