Catherine Ann Bosworth—better known as actress Kate Bosworth—married writer-director Michael Joseph Polish yesterday at The Ranch at Rock Creek in Philipsburg, Montana. Martha Stewart Weddings was thrilled to be invited to help them pull off their Big Sky big day!

Kate wore two custom dresses by Oscar de la Renta. For the ceremony, she stunned in an ivory radzimir-satin strapless ball gown and a sweeping eight-foot-long, 16-foot-wide train. For the reception, the bride chose a floral embroidered tulle dress with an illusion neckline and scalloped cap sleeves. (Check out's video chronicling the creation of the dresses by Mr. de la Renta.) The groom looked handsome in a bespoke, three-piece charcoal Brooks Brothers suit.

The couple exchanged self-penned vows during an intimate ceremony on a bluff overlooking acres of rolling hills, streams, mountains, and wildflowers, late on a golden afternoon. Jasper Polish, Michael’s 15-year-old daughter, was also part of the ceremony. Notable guests included actress Lake Bell and Academy Award–winning actor-producer Walton Goggins. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests made their way down to the property's Granite Lodge, where a supper of local fare was served. Music (provided by Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison) and dancing followed in the historic Silver Dollar Saloon, and then, of course, came the after-party!

Suffice it to say, we’re beyond excited to share the exclusive story of Kate and Michael’s nuptials in the Winter issue of Martha Stewart Weddings! We had a blast working with with the super-stylish, creative, and down-to-earth couple. Their love for each other—well, it’s infectious. Like all of the couples we work with (whether boldfaced names or not), Kate and Michael brought a lot of ideas to the table. They envisioned a celebration that mixed Victorian touches and romantic Western influences, bookended by fun events that took full advantage of the Montana setting. In addition to helping them with their big day, our editors collaborated on the design and production of the ancillary gatherings. The Ranch at Rock Creek’s General Manager, Maja Kilgore, and her entire team were also integral to the event’s success. To capture the four-day wedding weekend, we enlisted one of our favorite photographers, John Dolan. If you can’t wait for the issue to drop in December, no worries—we’ll be sharing details of our collaboration with Kate and Michael online before then.

We haven't even gotten back from Montana yet, but we wanted to share a sneak peek of the happy Mr. and Mrs. (at the bride’s request, we calligraphed "Kate Polish" on her dinner menu), plus a few behind-the-scenes snaps of our preparations.
