I have always been diligent about my skin care regimen, and with my wedding less than eight months away, now more than ever it has been an important daily routine. People will be spending a lot of time looking at my face on my big day, and I’m sure the combination of a little extra skincare TLC and my ever-improving smile (thanks to my Invisalign treatments!), will really bring out my confidence when I need it most. While hardly anyone notices my aligners (even me, given how comfortable they are), I feel like people do notice my straighter teeth, so now it’s time to take my skincare to the next level!!
In college I suffered from acne, used Proactive and it worked great. As I have gotten older I have tried several different products and, to be honest, my favorite daily face wash is the drug store bought Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Cream-Wash. It has a great cucumber scent and exfoliating beads that are gentle enough for everyday use. Once a week I like to use an exfoliating facial peel to keep my skin from looking dull. I like M-61 Power Glow Peel. Just make sure after using it you wear sunscreen the next day as your skin is more sensitive than usual.
That brings me to my next skin care necessity, sunscreen!!! I remember back in high school hearing the song Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen, in which the lyrics suggest that wearing sunscreen is the most valuable advice you can get and, I have to admit, it is pretty important. I have really fair skin and burn easily, so I make sure to wear an SPF of at least 30 everyday. It is great when you can find a makeup you love that also includes SPF. I use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and it has just the right amount of coverage, moisturizer and added SPF!
As always with weddings you like to take things up a notch, so I booked my first facial at Bliss Spa for next month and I can hardly wait. I am going to try out the Triple Oxygen Facial, which promises a refreshed glow. If all goes well I would like to do a few of those before the big day!!!
Disclosure: I have received complimentary treatment from Invisalign in exchange for blogging about my bridal journey and treatment, and all opinions expressed are my own.
