Details, Details, Details: Three Weeks to Go Before Our Wedding!

Posted by

Three weeks out from my wedding and planning has stepped into high gear! My partner and I spent all weekend going through all the final details. First up was a visit to our furniture rental company, Patina Vintage Rentals. Kim McCloskey, our company rep, greeted us at the door with homemade doughnuts, muffins, and fresh mimosas. Given the wedding diet, we passed on the doughnuts and muffins, but—not wanting to seem rude—we said yes to the mimosas. One thing that anyone planning a wedding will find is the wedding industry is keeping the Champagne region of France in business.

We were very excited to learn that Patina had just received a large shipment of these crank tables that we are using instead of the traditional cocktail rounds that are draped. We think they will look perfect in our very modern space at 501 Union. Patina specializes in propping out event spaces—everything from small details like vintage trophies to adorn a bar area to whole living room sets to provide a space for your guests to relax in. For someone who is using a raw space (barn, warehouse, event room), finding a great rental company is key to making sure your event is perfect.

Next, we had a call with our videographer, Swizterfilms. When I ask brides about their biggest regret from their wedding day, I often hear that they wished they had hired a professional videographer. The day goes by so fast for those involved and often can be a blur. A good videographer can capture the big moments so they can be enjoyed at a slower pace. If it is in a wedding budget, I always suggest that brides and grooms make sure they don’t skip the video. Our videographer was even willing to do some quick edits and show some highlights at our reception. Given that we are having a cocktail-style wedding, we are showing the film as one of the moments that helps break up the reception.

Lastly, we had a quick call with our travel company, Jacada Travel, to finalize the details for our honeymoon. We chose Jacada because they are a full-service planning company and after the stress of planning a wedding, we wanted it to be as easy as possible. They basically have a few calls with their clients to get travel preferences and then plan the perfect trip from arrival to departure. We were in love with the custom travel agenda they sent to us.

When my partner and I met 17 years ago, we would save all our money each year for a backpacking and rafting trip in Costa Rica. For the honeymoon, we wanted too recreate those trips, but with more of an upscale feel. We are so excited to revisit a location we love and played such an important part of our history.
