Bridal Beauty Diaries: Esther – A Lot to Digest

Posted by

There is so much information out there about what to eat, how much to eat, when to eat—it’s a lot to digest! For me, eating in moderation has been key to being healthy. I like to eat most everything and I think it would be a shame to miss out on socializing with friends over food or trying something new for the sake of a rigid diet. While I do overindulge once in a while, my general approach is to limit sweets and listen to my body and not eat after I’m full. I only eat red meat when I’m craving it, which is rare, so thankfully I don’t have to curb that choice often.

That being said, I’ve become more conscious of incorporating healthier options into my diet over the past several years. I used to go for days without eating raw vegetables, and now I try to have at least one salad per day (almost always with avocado or else it just isn’t as satisfying). Instead of snacking on chips, I munch on some almonds instead. With all the rage about quinoa, I’ve finally tried it this past year and have worked that in pretty regularly into my diet since it’s so easy to cook. And, I’m grateful that, instead of worrying about having all that healthy food stuck in traditional braces, I can just take my Invisalign trays in and out whenever it’s time to eat. It’s one less thing to worry about!

I want to be realistic about how much I’m going to change my eating habits before the wedding, but I think there are some small steps I can take to shed a few pounds and to just be healthier in general. I’m going to work on stocking up on fruits more regularly so they are more readily available when I need a snack. I’ll ban myself from buying anything sold in pre-packaged bags for at least three months before the wedding—I am a sucker for chips and carb-heavy snacks. And finally, if I can muster up the willpower, I’m going to lay off fried food for the final months before the wedding. Fries, wings, and spicy ramen noodles (the instant kind, I admit) are my weakness!
