Real Weddings: Gillian and Will, A Special Keepsake

Posted by

For Gillian and Will's nautical nuptials, the mother of the bride put her experise as a skilled shell artist to use, crafting custom table numbers in the likeness of Sailor's Valentines.

"Sailor's Valentines were made primarily in the 1800s. Sailors would go out to sea for long stretches of time and they would bring back these shelled valentines as gifts for their loved ones. My mom has mastered the antique art form and spends hours creating authentic and personal detailed pieces. She gave us this one as a wedding present. A perfect and special gift to always remember our day. It will be a family heirloom!" -Gillian

  • What a neat gift! I encourage all mothers of the bride to give some special keepsake to the happy couples as a memento of their wedding. I did this for both of my daughters. I had fun looking for something that captured a facet of their weddings and they loved receiving the special gifts.
