Bridal Beauty Diaries: Brittany – Nailing the Perfect Mani/Pedi

Posted by

Despite the rainy June we have had here in New York, summer has officially started. If that isn’t reason enough to indulge in the occasional manicure/pedicure, my upcoming wedding has definitely given me the perfect excuse to kick my pampering routine up a notch. I have always loved the occasional manicure/pedicure and since I live in New York City, I have access to nail spas at pretty much any hour. Plus, they usually offer great deals, making it that much more convenient to get my nails done!

The minute I got engaged I became obsessed with keeping a fresh manicure. Fast forward six months and I am still taking care of my nails—although the occasional chip doesn’t send me to running to a nail salon at 10pm (ha-ha)! I have found that sticking to a light Essie color looks classy and allows my manicure to stay fresher longer, but I can’t resist the bright colors and find myself alternating every other week. With more and more brides trying bright blue nail polish as their “something blue,” I may just go with this trend, even if it is the subtle approach of using it for my pedicure.

I have also given gel manicures a try, as they were all the rage. I will say they did, without a doubt, last a lot longer than a regular manicure. My gel manicure lasted a full two weeks without a single chip and looked just as glossy as it did the first day. While this definitely seems like the more cost effective approach, I don’t really like the potential damaging effects the UV lamps they use to set the gel could have on me. So I will stick to a basic manicure for my wedding day and all the fun events leading up to it!

Invisalign Update: My treatment is going very well. The aligners are virtually invisible and hardly anyone notices them, which is a great! My teeth are pretty sore for the first three days of each new aligner, but nothing too uncomfortable. They are also very tight the first few days which makes them more difficult to take on and off; unfortunately this usually leads to a chipped nail. Oh well, back to the nail salon I guess!

Disclosure: I have received complimentary treatment from Invisalign in exchange for blogging about my bridal journey and treatment, and all opinions expressed are my own.
