Bridal Beauty Diaries: Meet Brittany

Posted by

My name is Brittany Rivera. I am 26 years old and live in the great city of Manhattan. Growing up on Long Island, it was always my dream to live in New York City, have a great career and a fabulous shoe collection. I work in TV and Digital advertising sales, and I LOVE it! I have definitely found my passion. I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in a tiny, but very cute apartment that I painted Tiffany blue (my poor fiancé). The only thing that I’m missing is that fabulous shoe collection; I’m still working on that!

My family and I are very close. I have two beautiful younger sisters and an amazing mother and father whom I see often and talk to almost every day. I am the first one in my immediate family to get married so everyone is really excited, including my Dad! He is cute and will check in on a weekly basis asking details about the wedding. I am not sure if he really cares or is just pretending, but it really makes my day! My mom and sisters have been extremely patient and understanding with me, as I have changed my venue and date a few times and have a lot of trouble making decisions and often need their advice.

My fiancé is the most amazing person in the world. Kevin is smart, funny, handsome and extremely positive. He has supported me in every way: work, family, friends, and living a healthier lifestyle. Shortly after we got engaged, I expressed an interest in straightening my teeth before our wedding; who doesn’t want to look and feel their absolute best at their wedding? He looked at me like I was crazy and said, “please don’t get veneers - you don’t need them, you’re smile is perfect!” He always makes me feel beautiful and I am so lucky for that. I consulted with a dentist anyway to weigh my options and to our surprise he suggested Invisalign. My treatment plan is roughly 6-8 months and I am excited to start the process so my smile will be ready for the big day. Please note that I have received complimentary Invisalign treatment in exchange for sharing my experience. It’s a relief to have the treatment plan in place and be able to check off “perfect smile” on my wedding planning to-do list.

Seriously, I am a walking cliché. I have been dreaming of my wedding since I can remember. I took the selection of my first Holy Communion dress extremely serious, knowing that I would reuse the dress every Halloween to dress up as a bride. Between Halloweens, I planned elaborate weddings for my dog with my cat. So to say I am excited for my OWN wedding would be the understatement of the year. My wedding will be next April on Long Island, near where I grew up. I am getting married in a beautiful small church in Port Jefferson and my reception will be held at The East Wind in Wading River. Kevin and I are really looking forward to the party! We just want our guests to have the best time ever and dance the night away. I have yet to get into all the nitty-gritty details of planning, but my Pinterest board is stacked and I am ready to go!

In addition to straightening my teeth, I have definitely kicked up my work out routine. I was never really one to work out; shame, shame on me because it is so important! But I have recently gotten into it. I really love going to Soul Cycle classes and running in the park with my fiancé. My mom is still trying to get me to take a Pilates class with her, so I think that will be my next adventure.

“I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite!" is a great quote by Will Ferrell in Elf. My smile has always been my favorite feature. But after years of braces, night gear, and wearing a retainer, my teeth have shifted and could use some straightening. My smile is a big one. You can literally see every tooth in my mouth so it’s important to me that I go through the process of Invisalign to feel my very best for my wedding day. I am so excited for the treatment and cannot wait to see the finished product. Stay tuned for future posts!

Disclosure: I have received complimentary treatment from Invisalign in exchange for blogging about my bridal journey and treatment, and all opinions expressed are my own.
