Real Weddings Follow-Up: Taylor and Greg's Honeymoon

Posted by

Yesterday we debuted Taylor and Greg's California wedding. Today, we've got a second dose of the newlyweds, this time with an inside look at their honeymoon. Check out the happy couple's photos and read on for Taylor's take on the memorable trip.

We found a package through Costco to take our dream vacation to Bora Bora. We always envisioned our honeymoon being tropical and relaxing after the stress of a wedding. We wanted to go somewhere where we could do activities but not feel like we had to sight see while we were there. We decided to go to Bora Bora because it's a big trip and a once in a lifetime opportunity. We had seen so many pictures and had always dreamed of making it there one day.

We stayed at the incredible Hilton Resort for a week. Our package included breakfast and dinner so it was nice to not have the stress of paying for meals while we were there. We got a couples' massage at the amazing spa and one of the highlights was a jet ski tour that we took around the island. There were just six of us on the tour and it was incredible to be able to see all of the different parts of Bora Bora and all of the resorts. I had never been on a jet ski so it was really exciting for me and I don't think I've ever smiled and laughed so much as when we were flying around the island. Another highlight was a snorkeling excursion that included swimming with sharks and sea rays, and visiting a private island. This excursion was Greg's favorite part of the trip. It was definitely memorable as we did not expect the sea rays that we got to swim with to be all over us—it was a little frightening but amazing. We also swam with an 8-foot shark which was a little unsettling at first. We had an awesome guide who made us feel was so comfortable in the ocean and played ukelele for us as we headed back to the hotel after our excursion. We were able to rent snorkeling gear at our hotel and we went outside of our hut every single day. We were fortunate to be in a hut with a ton of coral under us that made it a perfect snorkeling spot. Overall, it was the best vacation Greg or I have ever been on; we have never seen such beautiful clear water or felt so relaxed in our lives. We have made it a goal to make it back for our 10 year anniversary—if not before!
