Behind the Scenes: Katie and James's Real Wedding
Posted by Shira Savada
When Katie and James tied the knot last year, she was certainly the blushing bride—and not just because of the wedding's soft pink palette. This classic, elegant affair in Philadelphia took place on a gorgeous day, in the same city in which the couple first met. I snapped a few pics while we were there, but you can see the real ones and catch the whole story in our spring issue!
The couple had their wedding bands engraved with the date, and their nicknames for one another.
The favors were a double whammy, since they were in palette and 100% Philly. Oh, and they tasted good!
The couple's save-the-date was pretty fun, it was a small square packet held together by a brad and packaged in a cellophane envelope.
Like the invite, it was designed by Two Paper Dolls. Here, you can see the front in full.
In addition to the information about where and when the wedding would be, there was a full map of the area.
The inside of the church was spectacular.
I loved the doors too!
The bridal party and family arrived via trolley for the rehearsal the day before.
Here's cake artist, Peri, piping the cake together on site.
And the groom's cake, which featured edible figurines of the bride and groom in their favorite sportswear.
Katie and her dad arrived in a beautiful, vintage Rolls Royce.
Cassidy helped decorate it with a lovely wreath made by TableArt.
The wreath was repurposed after the newlyweds arrived at the reception. Since there were two (for the front and the back of the car) they were hung on the sides of the tent's entryway.
Lovely arrangements inside the tent.
A great view for a celebration!
Darcy stepped in when the wind got a bit crazy... holding the veil while our photographer snapped a few portraits during cocktail hour.
I loved the range of pinks!
Katie and James made a book showcasing their relationship and all the great places they've traveled together. It was a nice tie-in to their table names, which were different cities they'd been to.
I snapped this photo of the couple relaxing outside before being introduced. I love how calm and happy they look.
