Real Life Wedding Color Inspiration: Gray & Yellow

Posted by

Wolfgang Laib

Last weekend, I stopped by MoMA to check out Wolfgang Laib’s glorious installation in the Marron Atrium. A magical cement platform hosts a luminous square of loose hazelnut pollen that the artist meticulously collected and sifted into a buttery yellow carpet. Gray and yellow are one of my all-time favorite color combinations. It would make a fabulous wedding palette, right?!

Color inspiration comes from everywhere: A museum, a farmer’s market, the hardware store—really everywhere you look. Be open to the clues that surround you. Whether those clues are found in an official wedding context or not, color ideas can be applied to any celebration. That’s the fun of it. There are NO rules.
