Travel tidbit: If you're using vendors who aren't local to your destination, it's always a safer bet to fly them out the night before the wedding. While it might cost a bit more, it's worth it to not have to worry about flight delays, weather, and cancellations—or having to walk down the aisle to music from someone's iPhone because your musicians are stuck at LAX!
Helpful hint: We’re not sure if it's the novelty of being away from home or just access to a shuttle bus rather than having to drive, but we find that people tend to let loose even more than usual at the destination weddings we play.
Favorite wedding destination: We played a great wedding down in Charleston, South Carolina last May at the Old City Jail. The aptly named space is a beautiful old building with accompanying grounds that served as an actual county jail from 1802 until 1939. Charleston is a fantastic town, with tons of restaurants, bars, museums, and hotels and this unique venue is located right in the center of downtown.
