Our Engaged Editor Talks Favors
Posted by Sarah Smith
Usually, favors are something you don't have to think about until three months before the wedding (July 2013 for me, according to Martha Stewart Weddings' handy checklist). But, since my fiancé and I knew what we wanted to do, we decided, why wait? Scott's grandmother has friends in high places--i.e. one owns an orchard in Newcastle, CA (Magnolia Hill Orchard), and the other is a preserve-canning whiz. Um, hello, jars of mandarin honey and fruit jams! We think our guests will love them.
Since preserving season is upon us, we scurried to buy 4-ounce quilted glass Ball jars and 4-ounce hexagonal glass jars and ship them to our gracious helpers. With the containers checked off, my next thought was labels. See the gallery below to see what we decided to do!
1 I love the idea of garnishing the jam jar lids with sticker labels and sweet ribbon (photo courtesy of Ellinee.com)
2 As you all know, Etsy is awesome. I worked with OnceUponSupplies to create these kraft sticker labels. We'll be writing in flavors on the dotted line!
3 Because the honey jar lids are gold instead of silver, like the jam jar lids, I need to camouflage them. Covering the tops with fabric and tying them with custom hang tags is the way to go! (photo courtesy of stylemepretty.com)
4 Though Etsy came through for the jam jar labels, for the honey ones, my search wasn't as fruitful. Instead, I decided to create a custom rubber stamp that I'll use to embellish simple kraft hang tags.
