A Contributor Engaged: Inspiration To Invitation

I'm beyond excited to start sharing some of the details from the process of planning my own wedding. After more than 10 years in the weddings industry, it is an understatement to say it was bizarre to be on the other side of the planning and design process.

We started out planning our wedding last year, thinking it would be very large and filled with all of my colleagues, friends, and family. Instead we decided to celebrate the place we call home with a small group of very dear friends and family.

My fiancé and I both share a love of and fascination with gardens, and many of our trips together included visits to incredible gardens and greenhouses all over the world. I will never forget our day at Kew Gardens in London or our first stroll through the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris. So, it isn't surprising that our initial inspiration for the wedding invitations and the wedding decor came from a collection of antique botanicals like these:

For the invitations, I reached out to one of my favorite design teams, Arak Kanofsky Studios [1]. I love Heather and Nathan's work and we share a similar obsession with custom, unique details and ephemera. I'm obsessed with greenhouses filled with lush ferns, exotic foliage, and climbing vines. This combination is always a source of inspiration and I knew we had to use this as a starting point for our design plans. Heather immediately started pulling twine, ribbon, papers, stamps and more to create the actual invitation!

It's so important to work with people who you really connect with and admire. They should find your vision and your story equally inspired. When you bond creatively, there is no limit to the wonderful and truly personal details you can dream up to create a custom, unique wedding.

Stay tuned for upcoming posts with more details about our wedding plans. I'm so excited you will actually see all of the incredible details in the magazine next year!
