If you're from the Philadelphia area, you might be familiar with Brown Betty Dessert Boutique. The bakery, run by mother-daugher team Linda Hinton Brown and Norrinda Brown Hayat, is famous for its delicious cakes, cookies, and pies.
Luckily for those of you who aren't Philly natives, the ladies have teamed up to write The Brown Betty Cookbook, which features many of their scrumptious confections for you to make at home.
The book is filled with recipes inspired by the authors' mother and grandmother, Betty, who was a fabulous baker herself. All of the desserts have a warm, old-fashioned feel to them, but surprise twists--like blackberry buttercream and dark cherry filling--make them fresh and modern.
