A very interesting thing happened this weekend: I got engaged! After a 3-course meal (cooked by my now fiance), each one referencing a different experience in our lives together, he whipped out his iPad and asked me to read an email my mother had sent him. My first reaction? A worried "Why is my mother emailing you?" But as I was reading this letter, essentially her and my father's blessing (note: he had secretly driven from NYC to Connecticut to speak with them two weeks prior), he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Then, he opened a little box that held this stunner...
Ok. Every bride thinks her ring is the cat's meow--but seriously, this is the most gorgeous thing I've ever beheld! The deets: Four baguette and two half-moon diamonds all surrounding a low-set cushion-cut center stone.
My fiance worked with Hovig at HK Cad Designs Inc. to custom-make the 1920s Art Deco-esque bling, basing it off of an estate one I tried on months ago. From a bespoke setting (blueprints, 3D molds, you name it!) to sourcing impeccable diamonds, Scott said that Hovig was the bomb at helping him add his own personal touch (HK Cad Designs, Inc., 212-921-9200, email@example.com).
This Saturday, we'll be leaving for a trip to Sonoma, CA. Though the original intention was just to kick back and enjoy wine country, we'll now be looking at venues, too! Stay tuned for photos and more!
