"The style is fresh, messy, and elegant and merges styles from different decades in one modern 'do," says Maranghello. While the top knot he landed on did have a bee-hive edge, it was far from the poufs of the 1960s. Here's a quick how-to for creating this chic top knot:
- Pull hair into a high ponytail. Before slipping it through an elastic, split the ponytail into two sections. Sweep the front section forward (so it’s flopping over your eyes), then tie the bottom section with a hair band.
- Spiral the hair from the bottom section into a little bun and secure it with bobby pins.
- Flip back the front section of hair and drape it over the bun. Braid the loose ends together, then tuck them under the bun, bobby-pinning them in place.
- Mist with firm hold hairspray.
And voilà, the finished look on the runway!
