With the Olympics having just come to a close and the US Open in full swing in New York, I've caught a sports bug—as it relates to fashion, of course. While athletic inspiration has been popping up on runways around the globe in the form of bright color blocking and bodycon shapes, you can translate the trend into a wedding guest-appropriate ensemble by keeping your palette bold and solid, opting for a silhouette that complements your shape, and sporting not-so-dainty statement pieces. Whether it's with accessories made out of utilitarian (and slightly unconventional) materials or necklines shaped like that of a swimsuit, converting this seemingly casual look to cocktail attire is one of my favorite new ways to attend an affair on trend. Let the games begin.
