Expert Advice: Wine Pairings for Your Wedding

Posted by

For the fall Issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, we sat down with food and beverage director Stephane Colling to get the scoop on choosing the right wines for your wedding. His ultimate words of wisdom? "In the end, always follow your gut. Choose wine you love. It's your night. If you're happy with it, no one is entitled to judge." Cheers to that!

Get his expert tips, and take a peek at a few of his personal favorite pairings:

For cocktail hour...

Start with St. Germain and Billecart-Salmon Brut Blancs de Blancs Champagne and gougeres or homemade potato chips with creme fraiche.

For the main course...

A roasted lamb loin doesn’t demand red. Serve a white Burgundy such as Chassagne-Montrachet if you prefer.

For dessert...

Lambrusco, like this one by dell’Emilia, is a bubbly red with ample body. It’s unexpected but still delicious with red velvet cake.
