Surprisingly Chic Venue: A Hair Salon!

Posted by

Last night I went to a L'Oreal Professionnel dinner held at the glorious Ted Gibson salon in NYC (you might know him from TLC's What Not To Wear) and hosted by Ted's master colorist Jason Backe. (P.S. They just opened up another salon in Fort Lauderdale, FL!)

Now, you might not think a seated dinner in a salon would be ideal, but it actually was! Along with super modern place settings and a lush floral tablescape, they closed off half of the salon for the caterers to work their magic, which also created a more intimate environment. It just goes to prove that, no matter the space, you can truly transform it with just the right decor. Keep that in mind when looking at wedding venues--especially if a place's price is right, but the environment is iffy.

Oh, and some other highlights from the wine-and-dine: Ted's plush purple velvet bow-tie (grooms, would you consider velvet?) and L'Oreal Professionnel's luxurious Mythic Oil Colour Glow, which is a heat protector and shine-enhancer. I used it this morning, and I'm in love!

The wooden handles of these utensils had such a modern, geometric shape. And paired with the silver-topped tables, it made for quite the slick setting.

To make the event's average folding tables look chic and expensive, the stylist had plexiglass sheets cut to size, foiled their backs, and then placed them on top of the tables.
