All right brides and brides-to-be, it's about to get real up in here: Did you set a deadline for saying "I do"? Based on a recent survey reported over at Self.com, most college women want to be married by the age of 30 -- 85 percent of them to be exact.
I've definitely had friends play the age game—"If I'm this age now, this means I should meet the man of my dreams in two years, marry a year after that..." and so on and so on. But talk about a race to the altar! According to the survey:
- 46.5 percent said they'd like to get married between age 25 and 27
- 20.9 percent said they'd like to tie the knot between 28-30
- 17.1 percent want to walk down the aisle by their 25th birthdays
So the moment of truth: Did you set a wedding day goal? If so, do you fall in one of these categories?

I definitely thought I wanted to be married by 30 when I was in college. However, college spanned a considerable growth period- 18-22- and I had no idea how much more growing I had to do after 22. Many men and women are ready for marriage shortly after college, but I am incredibly grateful for waiting. I am now 32, set with my career goals, engaged to a man who is set with his career goals, and ready to make a life together with children. So excited, as all of us soon-to-be-brides are!! For any ladies feeling the pressure of getting married before 30, I certainly shared that concern with you, but things seem to work out for a reason- and there are statistics that people who marry after 30 are far less likely to divorce! Take from it what you will, but I like it.

I wanted to be married at 21, and I was. It's SO MUCH EASIER to have kids in your 20's than it is later - I had my first at 25, and my second at 31, and it's much harder on the body to have kids later in life. If I knew then what I know now, I would have had kids immediately after we got married.
Getting married and having kids doesn't mean the end of your career. I am MUCH more successful after having children than I was before.
