Some weddings come with happy surprises, special sentimental touches, or little gifts. And some weddings have dogs as part of the celebration. But very few weddings merge surprises with puppies. That happy little intersection came to be at Marnie and Jamie's wedding. And below, you'll get the full scoop, from the very shocked and very happy bride, Marnie.
After all of my careful planning, the most impactful element of our New Year’s Eve wedding reception was something I didn’t plan at all. My parents surprised me with a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy during my dad’s toast. It was something that I’d wanted very badly for a long time and yet, when it happened, it knocked me off my feet in a way I couldn't have predicted. (Much like when Jamie proposed!) Because our friends knew how much Jamie loves puppies and how much I’d always wanted a puppy—I volunteered with puppies; I borrowed puppies; I visited pet stores in the way most people visit museums—our guests were as excited as we were. They rushed the dance floor so quickly my mom says she felt famous.

1 During our wedding, we received the most wonderful surprise—a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy! We named her Winter.

4 Yep! We were getting a puppy!!! I am shocked!
