Anything Goes: Mixed Metallic Color Inspiration

Posted by

The trailer for Baz Lurhmann's highly anticipated remake of The Great Gatsby has finally been released! Lurhmann is known for his lavish theatrical films like Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Moulin Rouge (2001) and his newest project, based on the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is no exception. The opening scenes of the trailer capture the opulence of the early 1920s in New York. The '20s have been having a fashionable comeback with award winning films like The Artist, Midnight in Paris, and the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.

So why not throw a roaring wedding soiree fit for a flapper or dandy? Really anything goes with this theme and in this case, more is more! Keep the look cohesive by mixing metallic hues like silver, gold, and bronze for an ultra-rich color palette. Foil embossed stationery is both elegant and classic, while edible glitter adds serious sparkle to your cake. Instead of a veil, try a beaded headband or comb and pair it with a drop-waist biased cut dress. Finally, a vintage inspired photo booth provides extra party fun for your guests! (Make your own sparkling vintage photo booth from our instructions here.)
