I always say that when budgeting your wedding, prioritize—figure out what's important to you and what you are willing to budge on. Music sets the mood and tone for your entire reception, so I personally think it's one of the things to prioritize. But hiring your music vendor is difficult because, unlike meeting with a photographer and looking at his portfolio, you can't always meet the entire band and experience an entire evening with them. Which is why we're happy that Elan Artists (who represent all sorts of cool music and other artists such as photographers) is hosting dance band showcases this week in three cities: New York, D.C., and Los Angeles. Various Elan artists have played many MSW events from Martha's nephew's wedding to our bridal market party. If you are looking for cool music, definitely go so you can hear their talents in person!
