As if I wasn't excited enough to attend the wedding of my friends Joan and Brian (a perfect match!), their destination wedding gathered us in beautiful and relaxing Costa Rica for a week of sunny celebrations that was perfectly "pura vida" as the locals say. Joan had never been to Punta Islita before her wedding week, but her great planning and attention to detail ahead of time paid off. And her gut instinct was right: Perched on the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica's Guanacaste Province, hotel Punta Islita is truly off the beaten path. We felt like we were in our own little village, and it struck a great balance between nature (spectacular views, forests and wildlife—including monkeys and iguanas) and luxury (poolside cocktails and ceviche). It was great to spread the celebration out over a whole week, both before and after the actual wedding, as it gave everyone a chance to get acquainted and enjoy the surroundings. Basically, every night felt like an amazing party.
