Aisle-Worthy Oscars Fashions

Posted by

I typically tune into red carpet footage for the crème de la crème in couture and ready-to-wear runway gowns. What I did not expect to find at last night's Academy Awards was a best dressed list of straight-up bridal-friendly gowns. While couture is not easily attained for one's special day, I am hoping that these stunners inspire gown purchases galore. Here are a few I think would look fabulous on brides.

Nominee Bérénice Bejo and presenter Milla Jovovich dazzled in Elie Saab Haute Couture. If you love sparkle as much as we do, this is the way to do it delicately. Whether you sport a silhouette with more coverage like Bérénice or opt for a sexier shape à la Milla, this subtle, feminine sparkle will have all eyes on you the whole night long. These two ladies jumped to the top of my best dressed list the second their stilettos hit the carpet.

Are you eager to insert a little edge into the overall elegance of your wedding day look? Rooney Mara proved it can be done glamorously with a little help from Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci. A starlet known to stick to basic black with pops of scarlet, Rooney wowed me in white last night and infused some softness into a dress that was still unique to her personal style.

Words cannot begin to express just how sleek and sophisticated Gwyneth Paltrow looked in her Tom Ford gown and cape! It proves that a winter wedding can be done in a modern manner. Its clean lines and coverage are perfect for the colder seasons while staying away from touches of whimsy. Looking to cover up for a more conservative ceremony? This floor-length cape is a refreshing and fashion-forward alternative to long sleeves.
