Golden Globes Report: A Prize-Winning Hair Style

Posted by

If you were glued to the Golden Globes this weekend, like myself, I'm sure you saw some stars fly and some flop when it came to their fashion and beauty choices. Some of the highlights? The relaxed waves sported by Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Biel and, my personal favorite, the textured side bun worn by the beautiful Charlize Theron, Emma Stone, and Sarah Hyland.

To get this gorgeous updo for your wedding, Rodney Cutler, hair stylist and owner of Cutler Salon in NYC, gives us the breakdown:

1. Prep blow dried hair with a heat styling mist like Redken Spray Starch 15, then twirl up strands with a 1.5 curling iron. Comb out the curls with a paddle brush to create airy volume and gentle waves.

2. Spritz on a texturizing spray like Blow Beach Blow Texturizing Mist and create a deep side part.

3. Pull hair over to one side right below the ear (note: make sure it's not too tight--you want the wavy texture to show through). Twist up strands into a loose bun and pin in place.

4. Set it with a working hairspray such as Dove Flexible Hold Hairspray for a touchable hold that lets escaped pieces flutter as you move.
