Real Weddings Follow-Up: Heather and Neal, part 2

Posted by

The next installment from Heather and Neal's planner, David Pressman is about something important: pampering. Put your feet up and take notes.

When you're invited to a wedding at the members-only club Babington House and the home of the world famous Cowshed Spa, tucked away in the English countryside, how can you not give it a try?

As the event planner for this particular wedding I took it upon myself to check out the spa facilities soon after I arrived. It's possible I told the mother of the bride that I had an extended meeting with the chef to buy myself a few hours extra hours. But the truth is that the MoB and I had carefully been plotting different spa experiences for as many guests as possible long before we left Los Angeles.

After the massage, it was on to a room filled with a huge bronze tub for a post-massage soak.

This country spa had automatic window coverings controlled right from the tub with views looking directly onto the organic garden where much of Babington's organic produce is grown.

My test run began with a piping hot shower, then 90 minutes of body work that would turn any wedding planner's stress -- of which I had none -- into mere memories. If I tell you this was the single best massage (no offense to my long-time personal masseuse Rose) I've ever received, I would not be doing justice to the experience.

Bottom line? Make a spa experience part of your destination wedding activities. Then sit back and watch your family and friends smile as the reality they left behind to attend your wedding fades into the background and your wedding and activities become the only things on their minds.
