On a walk through a farmer's market in Rome, the beautiful, umbrella-covered produce displays conjured up ideas for a wonderful wedding-favor idea. What if you set up something similar for your guests? They could select a fruit or veggie when they exit for the evening! I did something like this for a charity event in the Hamptons, and I thought, "What a great idea for someone looking to avoid knickknacks and calorie-heavy candy!"
To pull off the look, cover a farm table with a display of really fresh, seasonal produce -- all contained in baskets, bins, or boxes. Keep in mind this does not have to be rustic -- you could easily put them in chic Lucite or white ceramic containers. Just add a little sign or two instructing guests to grab a lovely tote bag and fill it up! The bags are a great opportunity to add a personal message or a charming tag. And if you have leftover items from this table, you can donate them to a local shelter or save them for a delicious brunch the following morning.
Have you decided your favor? If not, try this option, and let me know how you created a lush display!
