Special Peaches-and-Cream Series: Cakes
Posted by Shira Savada

We're kicking off the peaches and cream series with pretty pairings of cakes and flowers. Emily Lael Aumiller, of Lael Cakes, in Brooklyn, created three different confections inspired by the palette in our summer issue. Not only are they stunning (and delicious), they're vegan and gluten free, too! What a bonus, right? Natural ingredients and style, unite!
Using different techniques, Emily cut out the cakes' decorations by hand. Then, the girls from Poppies and Posies created floral arrangements that worked perfectly with each.
Photographer Jen Huang captured it all with her soft, dreamy pictures.
1 An old chest of drawers and festive garland beautifully display the cake.
2 One lush peach blossom wrapped in vintage handkerchiefs makes a simple yet stunning bouquet.
3 The sugar lace patterns were created from a silicone mold.
4 A pleated cake is topped with a small garland of its own.
5 The sugar peach and its blossoms were hand-sculpted and painted to look real.
6 Why not sweeten up the dessert course a bit more, with peach-hued macaroons?
