I hope everyone has seen the fabulous jewelry feature in the current issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. It’s a very useful guide to choosing just the right jewelry to complement your gown's neckline. Give it a look!
Today on New York Live, we took the story one step further: We went to one of my favorite bridal shops, the J.Crew Bridal and Collections store, to actually show viewers how to do it with one-shoulder, sweetheart/strapless, bateau, and V-neck necklines. We also paired the wedding jewelry with cocktail dresses -- remember, though your wedding jewelry is an investment, you can wear it for years to come with numerous outfits! Even costume jewelry, a less expensive alternative, can look simply stunning with your gown, and then dress up jeans and T-shirt down the road. It’s all up to you and your budget. A few of us at the taping (including the host herself) were cooing over a pair of $45 J.Crew coral earrings. How can you beat that price?
Got your wedding-day jewelry already set (maybe it's an heirloom piece)? Check out the story and segment to find the perfect rehearsal-dinner necklace or even beautiful earrings to give to your bridesmaids. And speaking of rehearsal dinners, J.Crew's cocktail dresses are ideal for all of your wedding's celebrations -- bridal showers, day-after brunches, etc.
Take a look at some gorgeous pairings with the help of J.Crew bridal below.
1 Lauren Rich from our PR department couldn't resist trying on some of the jewelry before the segment.
2 Marseila looks beautiful in the J.Crew "Sarabeth" bateau-neck gown. See how it's paired with simple drop earrings and a glitzy cuff?
5 The Isaac Mizrahi cuff and Siman Tu chandelier earrings are perfect for this one-shoulder "Nadia" dress from J.Crew.
7 Makeup artist Tamah K. touched up model Paloma's lips before filming. Don't you love the bright pink color?
10 We then paired the stud earrings and a collar necklace with this silk chiffon "Arabelle" dress. It's ideal for a summer cocktail event or special evening out, and would also be beautiful on a bridesmaid.
11 Or try tying a natural-waist dress with a belt to add a bit of glamour. The belt can be paired with cocktail dresses after the wedding, too.
