Everyone loves a beautiful beach wedding or reception, but working with a sea-inspired theme can be challenging. Seashells and soft, tropical tones can easily turn kitschy and tacky if you aren't careful in your choices.
My suggestion for incorporating beach and island elements is to choose a very edited color palette and keep the decor simple and effortless. An ocean-esque palette can easily be interpreted through textured table linens, and seashells make wonderful (and inexpensive) accents.
Here are a few images from one of our recent destination weddings. I collaborated with the team at Environmental Arts, Turks & Caicos to provide our client with lovely blooms. The Environmental Arts team created elegant bouquets inspired by the natural beauty of the islands, and I used rustic, aqua-striped linen for table runners.
Here, a chic bouquet featuring simple chrysanthemums and silver and gray foliage -- it's perfect against the shell pink of the bridesmaid's dress.
The white textured vases from Environmental Arts were a very subtle reference to the seashell and the island inspiration.
Subtle moments, like this small glass bottle filled with freesia, are the ideal complement to the aqua-striped linen runners.
