Ice Cream Social, a Brooklyn-based design company, is one of my new favorite companies specializing in print media. It was started by two friends who share a love for beautiful paper and mint chocolate-chip ice cream. Together, they believe that the wedding's save-the-dates and invitations need to make a great first impression.
Below is a new suite they just completed for Stephanie and Ben, who are set to marry this May at the lovely Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
Here, they answer some of my questions!
How do you make each piece you create special?
"We gather all the little details in a couples's story to illustrate it throughout their wedding -- therefore, every piece designed is memorable and meaningful. We also look for unique ways to package or print our pieces through textures, ties, tags, and labels."
What is the biggest challenge you've tackled?
"Constructing 150 handmade book-style invitations and 300 suites encased in custom fabric pouches with button closures were both large projects. Our most recent and challenging one to date was designing our own ready-made line."
What inspires you?
"Tons of things: flea markets, all things vintage, shopping the fashion district, patterns, buttons, miniatures, Brooklyn, heraldry, sweets, beautiful typography, old stamps, flowers, and beautiful blogs. "
