Styling a wedding shoot on an old cocoa plantation on St. Lucia provided a profusion of French, British, African, and island inspirations. The best one was the food. I worked with Ladera's sous chef to create these amazing-looking and delicious treats.
1 The chef holds a combination platter of star anise, local fish, scallops, and a vegetable blend.
2 We presented these skewered Carib sugar-cane shrimp on local pottery. A water-lily pad lined the charger.
3 An appetizer roll filled with delicious fresh chicken and herbs rests in my favorite frog dish.
4 The resort overlooks the Piton Mountains. You can see them in the distance and also on the local beer label.
5 Here's a close-up of local "tangines" (used to cook many dishes), cocoa berries, and the island-made cloths, which served as the color inspiration for the shoot.
6 The table is set with local dishes, and we're ready to begin the meal!
How are you incorporating local food, drinks, and recipes into your wedding? I'd love to hear!

I'm getting married at Ladera in July. It's breathtaking, and the people are warm and friendly.
