Tomorrow you'll see the full, fabulous wedding of Kathryn, wedding blogger of Snippet & Ink, and Ryan, but today we wanted to give you just a tiny glimpse into their planning experience. Without giving anything away -- except the cute snapshot of them above, courtesy of Elizabeth Messina -- here's the skinny from Kathryn on her venue-finding adventure.
Almost as soon as Ryan and I were engaged, I started dreaming of a wedding at Beltane Ranch in Glen Ellen, California. One of the very first real weddings I ever featured was held there, and I've been enamored of it ever since. Plus, since Ryan and I were planning to move from our Austin home to California in the new year, its location made sense. Unfortunately, our budget didn't love it as much as I did, so we kept looking. . . .
We considered several other San Francisco area venues: Chileno Valley Ranch, the Olema Inn, Tiburon's China Cabin, and Lyford House. My family's summer house in Montana even made the list, though we'd have to bring in tents, caterers, and fly in our guests.
When we returned home to Austin, I was overwhelmed by the thought of planning a destination wedding, either in San Francisco or Montana, and by all of the venue options in general. Ryan and I opted to not talk about it for a whole week! (When you're an engaged wedding blogger, a week of not talking weddings is an eternity.) We actually put off planning for a couple months, which gave me time to really refocus -- by then I was less worried about finding the perfect place, and more concerned about marrying the love of my life. And in December, Ryan and I wed in the sweetest, coziest church followed by a reception at one of our favorite San Francisco restaurants. . . .

Kathryn, you are truly a wise woman. When you stopped worrying about where your wedding would be held and
focused on the man you could not live without, all fell
into place. You go girl!
