It's official! His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton are engaged to be married on April 29th, 2011. Most couples send out save-the-date cards to announce their engagement and to give general information regarding their upcoming nuptials to invited friends and family. But since royal weddings are more of a public event (while the receptions are much more private), save-the-date cards are hardly necessary.
Nonetheless, the royal family did officially announce the engagement on November 16th via an e-mail notice (who knew!). The image is below. I love the Prince of Wales Feathers at the top of the notice -- it's the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales -- and it's included because this formal announcement came from William's father, Charles.
